The Jimmy and Jack Statue fund are an organisation of Notts County supporters seeking to raise approximately £105,000 to pay for a visual legacy of Notts County’s greatest ever management team – Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler.

Their campaign has won support from legendary Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson who has cited Jimmy Sirrel as an influence on his career. On Sunday 17 May they are putting on a Notts County vs Nottingham Forest all-stars game at Meadow Lane. We take a look at four players from each side who are set to take part.

Representing the Magpies...

Charlie Palmer
Legendary Notts County right-back who played over 200 times for the magpies between 1988 and 1994. He’s best remembered for scoring the winning goal the last time Forest and County met in competitive league action.

Tommy Johnson
A bright young winger/ forward and product of the Notts County youth system, Tommy Johnson (aka The Ginger Prince) played 118 games for Notts before going on to appear for the likes of Derby County, Aston Villa, Celtic and Everton.

Another product of the Notts County youth system, this pacey defender started his career with Notts in the early nineties and ended it with them in the early noughties. Between this time he had spells with Birmingham City, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday.

Andy Legg
Despite only being 5ft 8in tall, the former Notts left winger was once known for having the longest throw-in in league football. His longest measured throw clocked in at 44.6m.

Representing the Reds...

Des Walker
Legendary former Forest and England centre-half. He made 59 appearances for his country including starting all seven games during the Italia 90 World Cup. He eventually moved on to Sampdoria and subsequently Sheffield Wednesday, but came back to the reds to end his career.

Jason Lee
Much travelled striker who played for over 20 football clubs in his career including all three of our local teams – Forest, County and Mansfield. Despite a solid football career, he is perhaps most famous for being lampooned by Baddiel and Skinner for his ‘pineapple’ haircut on their football comedy show Fantasy Football League.

Nigel Jemson
He burst onto the scene as a 20-year-old for Forest by scoring the winner in the 1990 League Cup final against Oldham Athletic. He later went on to play for various clubs including Sheffield Wednesday, Watford, Coventry and Notts County.

David Johnson
Jamaican-born footballer who started his career at Manchester United, before going on to play for Bury and Ipswich. Forest signed him in January 2001 for £3.5million and he went on to score 46 goals in 148 appearances, before his career was cruelly cut short by injury.

Notts County All Stars vs Nottingham Forest All Stars takes place at Meadow Lane on Sunday 17 May. Tickets are £5 for adults and £1 for children.
