What's Happening in July?

1 January 0001

It’s time to get kicking and make the most of your summer in Nottingham…

July is not only the month we will learn who will be the kings of European football; it is also the time to relish Nottingham’s status as the UK’s City of Football.

We have a bunch of great football-related events going on around the city for you to immerse yourselves in.

First up, on Tuesday 12 July, we have QPR coach Annie Zaidi leading a Female Coaching Workshop for all those wanting to learn some new skills and techniques to pass onto others.

There’s a City Sixes tournament on Friday 15 July, for which you can still enter a men’s 6-a-side team by emailing amy.buxton@nottinghamshirefa.com.

The very next day, Saturday 16 July, sees the much-anticipated Female Football Fives tournament for women entering 5-a-side teams into the draw.

Splendour Festival follows on Saturday 23 July, in what will be a fantastic occasion at Wollaton Park with City of Football hosting a range of football-themed activities for you to enjoy.

Also starting that weekend will be the beach in Market Square, with loads of beach balls up for grabs. You may also get the chance to see the Jules Rimet trophy that England lifted in 1966 as it’s being exhibited near the Brian Clough statue.

On Wednesday 27 July the girls from NextDoorDance, as seen at several of our events, are showcasing their performance about football The Beautiful Game at Nottingham Playhouse.

The Broadway Cinema will be hosting a magical event on Saturday 30 July. Streaming the 1966 England World Cup triumph, with live footage straight from Wembley. Jeremy Vine and Chris Evans will be hosting the show with members of the winning squad.

Finally, that weekend (Saturday 30 – Sunday 31 July) sees the Rock & Reggae Festival at the Forest Recreation Ground with City of Football kicking some balls the whole way through to keep you on your toes.

So get out there, and hope the weather stays on our side…
