Bassett Helps to Reclaim the Pitch

2 March 2016

Last month, England and Notts County defender, Laura Bassett, helped the women of Notts take back the pitches at the Forest Sports Zone to launch our Reclaim the Pitch – Girls Only Night...

Over 200 women and girls from across the city took over the Forest Sports Zone, with football activities, comedians, live music, dance and a Female Football Fives tournament making the night a huge success.

Good work, ladies.

Laura Bassett made a special appearance in support of the girls, “As soon as I heard that Nottingham City of Football were organising the first Women’s Only Night in Nottinghamshire, I was keen to get involved and learn more.

“Women’s football in the country is thriving at the moment, and we want to keep it that way by promoting the game to girls and women of all ages and abilities.

The evening also launched our Women’s Walking Football sessions, which runs every Tuesday from 6-7pm and our Women’s Veterans League which runs every alternate Tuesday from 7-8pm.

Celebrate International Women’s Day with us on Tuesday 8 March and take part in our female 5-aside tournament at the Forest Sports Zone from 7-9pm. Enter a team before Thursday 3 March by emailing: katie@city-of-football.uk (All abilities welcome, players must be 16 +)
