You don’t need expensive kit or equipment. All you need is a football. Discount stores – like Sports Direct – stock these from as little as £3.50, so you don’t need to worry about overspending after Christmas.

Football is versatile. Whatever your skill level and however much free time you have, football offers something for everyone. From a casual kick about with your mates to regular five-a-side fixtures around the city, there are loads of ways to enjoy the game.

It’s great exercise. Football is a great way of building and maintaining your fitness levels, which is good news for your health. From jumping and kicking, to dodging and sprinting, even a quick game of footie offers an all-round workout.

There are loads of places to play in Nottingham. The city has many easily accessible spaces that are ideal for a kick about. There’s the Arboretum in the City Centre, and the brand new, purpose-built pitches on Forest Rec. It’s so easy to find somewhere to play.

You can take football at your own pace. Feeling a little shy? If you’ve never kicked a football in your life, there are loads of ways to get into the game at your own space and in your own time. Wollaton Park is the perfect venue – easily accessed by bus, bike, car, and on foot, the whopping 500 acres of green space is perfect for getting to grips with the game. Just mind out for the deer...

City of Football coaching sessions. We’re also running sessions delivered by friendly coaches. These are geared up for different ages and abilities at venues across the city. If you want to play football, and you’re still looking for teammates these sessions are an ideal way of getting started.
